Roof lights

Our range of roof lights evolved from our extensive experience manufacturing and installing glass roofs.

Manufactured in either Wood, Aluminium or u P V C,  a rooflight can have an amazing impact on the natural light conditions. Sometimes referred to as ‘Skylights’ rooflights can take many forms.

Timber Rooflight

Timber has been used for generations as the basic and most versitile construction material for most roofing configurations. A timber roof can be covered externally with  conventionall tiles, slate, felt or other material. High performance glass units can be designed to fit into all roof conditions. Timber mullions can be used as the structure to support the glass. The natural beauty of timber combined with glass is probably the most pleasing to the eye and using modern tecnology to secure the glazed panels means that there will be no external maintenance.

Octagonal shaped rooflights can extend to very large diameters and when placed over a stairwell can create a wonderful feature for a new home.

Simpler rooflight configurations can also be utilised. Sloped glazing is sometimes incorporated into a pitched roof condition with spectacular results.

An Atrium rooflight, if carefully positioned provides a ‘Wow’ factor hard to match.

A Lantern roof light has vertical or clerestory windows.   These were the traditional source of ventilation in the old days.   Nowadays glazing technology has advanced considerably and our roof vents are totally reliable, and normally electrically controlled.   Our special slim line chain operated roof vent motors were developed for their non obtrusive look and proven reliability.   We often recommend thermostatically controlled actuators.   These will allow excessive heat gain to be released when the area is not occupied.

Rain sensors ensure that a sudden sun shower does not make its way into the room. These sensors can effectively automate the ventilation system so holidays or long weekends won’t be a problem, excessive heat gains are avoided and your favourite plants will be safe.

Care is taken to minimise roflight maintenance to these ‘hard to reach’ areas.   Even with our wooden option, metal accessories and our patented glazing system will reduce or eliminate maintenance.

Self cleaning glass is also well worth considering.   While this does cost a little more, it can really pay back dividends over time as glass cleaning companies are often reluctant to access very high or awkward glazed rooflights.
